Luminous Blue Prints/Quantum Life/the positive mind
In Helix we learned a process which the program calls a "Luminous Blueprint". Its a way to examine one's belief system and how to manifest things in life. Its not as hokey and saccarine at "the secret" (or "stuffology" as my friend Warren puts it) but it has elements of it. Anyway, I heard a great podcast this week on "The Positive Mind with Armond DeMiele"
Armond interviews a woman named, Dr Natalie Reid, who has written a book called "5 Steps to a Quantum Life" which is totally the Luminous Blueprint project.

I think Armond screws around a bit with her and has a bit of the cynical New York vibe when he paraphrases her.... but all in all its interesting.
I don't know if I totally buy the whole quantum physics description, hook line and sinker, but I like to think about it and I think anything that helps to examines one's belief system and what might be holding you back is a great exercise.

Helix Graduation Speech
In December of 2007, I graduated from a four year training program here in NYC. The program was intense and life changing. I was honored by my fellow students to be asked to do a speech at graduation. Here is the text of my speech.
Thanks to our family and friends who have not only taken the time during the busy holiday season to come out also to thank them for standing by us these last four years. I have no doubt that to watch us come home from class in various states of emotional excitement, duress, confusion, inspiration must have been something to witness. Thank you.
John F Kennedy, in 1961 announced to the world, his idea that the United States should travel to the moon.
At Rice College in Texas he said:
We choose to go to the moon. We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win…
The growth of our education will be enriched by new knowledge of our universe and environment, by new techniques of learning and mapping and observation.
This in many ways highlights my Helix experience.
In many cultures, the moon represents, the shadow. The feminine side, the creative side. Dogs and wolves are known to howl at the full moon. In our culture, there are many movies about monsters, werewolves that when the moon comes out, so does the animal in man, the monstrous primitive parts of a personality.
In helix, we have really tried to take a long hard look at ourselves. To look at the parts of our own shadow. To see what we have repressed, what parts of ourselves have splintered off. What traits in other people make me crazy. That’s the shadow
Helix has given me the opportunity to embrace these parts, it has encouraged us to take a long hard look at what lurks in the dark alley ways of our hearts and souls.
Through this process, I have learned a tremendous amount about myself in the last 4 years. I have learned how to listen to myself better. To be more mindful of the way I behave in this world. To realize that I have a choice. I do not have to blindly react, the way I have always reacted, been programmed to react. That I can, maybe not always, but more and more, to give a moment to my experiences and make choices. I decide.
I have been able to listen to myself, as a person might listen to their car. You can hear when the whine of the engine that might indicate that a fan belt might need to be changed. Or maybe in a turn, the car’s tires might screech. Tires might need some air. This I have learned to be better at with myself… oh, I'm getting easily stressed out, I might want to slow things, down a bit, get some more sleep, meditate, eat better… whatever self soothing techniques I have learned… I can use… whether its self hypnosis, meditation or calling a friend.
An therefore, knowing how my own engine sounds, I can better hear the sound of other’s engines as well.
And as I have learned to listen to myself better, I have learned to listen to others better. Just being a better listener is a wonderful way to connect to someone. The experience of truly being heard and listened to can be an incredibly healing and connecting thing for everyone and in many ways a rare thing.
Helix has given me the opportunity for a second more authentic adulthood. I have been able to grow and heal and hopefully act, speak and live from a place more close to my heart and my soul.
But what really informs us about religon, and science and reality is our imaginations. We have this unique gift, each and everyone of us, to imagine. This ability to imagine can be destructive, manifesting in ourselves as worry, obsession, fear or it can be incredibly healing, as we can use it to think of new possibilities, new dreams, to re-create the stories we tell ourselves, day in and day out. To create a new dreams, new habits, to change how we behave
"...find true liberation comes by changing your own habits and patterns. One small step in a new direction can open up a new world of possibilities."
And this in a real sense Helix is the American dream. A dream that through hard work and honest living that I have the opportunity create a better world, I can change, I can grow and I can make my world, my life a little better. Better for me and especially better for my children. Helix has shown me that I can learn to be a better person. Not a better person than anyone else, but a person who is mindful, honest and who can listen to what other people are saying. I can be a person who is more at peace with myself.
And maybe through this I can help the people around me to be more in touch with their feelings, more honest, give them a space in life to explore there feelings, dreams, hopes, fears and joys so that they can create a life for themselves which allows them to follow their dreams.
We really have a need in this day and age for change. Our planet is in crisis. There is a lot of war, disease, death and terrible suffering going on, many people don’t have the resources they desperately need and the consequences are dire. Now more than ever its up to us, right here and now to work to better understand one and other and that starts right here [point to the chest] and then it can move out to the world.
Helix has given me the venue to work on my shadow, to learn how to listen to myself better and therefore listen to others better. And its given me a place to learn how to dream again, how to follow those dreams and to develop the tools I need to better operate in the world in a more honest, less wounded way.
In closing, I want to say, it’s the best money I have ever spent.
